INSEKTENSTERBEN - Alles wird gut

Es ist ein stilles, aber rasantes Sterben: Die Insekten verschwinden. In nur 30 Jahren sind fast drei Viertel der Biomasse an Fluginsekten verloren gegangen. Das ist für uns Menschen ein gewaltiges Problem – denn die Insekten spielen nicht nur eine Hauptrolle in der Natur, sondern auch in unserer Ernährung. Ist nun alles verloren? Unsere Sonderausstellung sagt: Nein!

Das Naturhistorische Museum Bern nimmt sich mit der neuen Sonderausstellung «Insektensterben – Alles wird gut» wieder einem höchst aktuellen, gesellschaftspolitisch relevanten Thema an. Auf eine überraschende und provokant-optimistische Weise: Die Ausstellung entführt die Besucher:innen in die Zukunft, genauer ins Jahr 2053. Von dort blicken sie zurück auf unsere Gegenwart, in der es zahlreiche wirkungsvolle Ansätze und Initiativen gegeben hat, die das grosse Insektensterben abgewendet haben.

It is a silent yet rapid extinction: Insects are disappearing. In just 30 years, nearly three-quarters of the biomass of flying insects have been lost. This is a huge problem for us humans—not only do insects play a crucial role in nature, but they are also essential to our food systems. Is everything lost? Our special exhibition says: No!

With its new special exhibition "Insect Decline – Everything Will Be Fine," the Natural History Museum Bern takes on a highly topical and socially relevant issue once again. Presented in a surprising and provocatively optimistic way, the exhibition transports visitors into the future—specifically, the year 2053. From this perspective, they look back at our present, a time when numerous effective initiatives and solutions helped prevent the great insect extinction.
